Signs Are Opportunities to Make Decisions

When speaking with others about dreaming a common theme emerges of deciphering certain symbols to divulge the dream's message.   As humans we always want to make "sense" of things that occur in our lives though sometimes this is just not possible. I, myself used to get hung up on all the symbols in my dream trying to figure out the meaning held by each. The good thing about this approach is you begin to gather a wide knowledge of symbolism, understanding there is shared knowledge of signs throughout the world but also understanding how those symbols are special to you.

Over several years of dreaming I've begun to realize the symbols provide me an opportunity to make decisions. The symbol itself is not the decision. It's not my fate. We as human have free will and no matter what signs appear to us we can decide to act on them or ignore them. Sometimes, the signs will repeat giving you another opportunity to choose a different path, but you're always in control of what you think and do. Often times repeating symbols are there to get your attention, so you take a step back and really think about a particular issue. The symbol itself is not telling you what to think about it, but saying "hey, you need to look at this. It's a concern. This is bothering you". However, it's up to you to figure out how it's bothering you. Once you acknowledge a sign, meaning you accept it pointing to something that needs further consideration, your dreams can move to a deeper realm of showing you why something is bothering you. Your dreams allow emotion to flow. We typically inoculate yourself from feeling so we can ignore the truths that bother us, which is results in another host of problems such as anger/rage, chemical dependency, anxiety and so forth. Dreams are a window into your emotional health. They allow you to explore the depth of your soul, if you're willing to go there. As the dreams come you get to decide how much meaning they hold for you. This is the great thing about dreams. You can wake up and use the information to move you towards emotional freedom, ignore them, or allow them to keep you locked in a cycle of despair. It's all about your approach to dreaming. The dreams are not your fate remember? They serve as a guide to make decisions of how you want to use the information to live life. You decide how you want to live it.

So many of us want direction with our lives, but confuse it with a written out "how to" plan. I once had a friend tell me "If God himself handed you a note telling you what "to do", you would ask "Are you really God"? What I'm getting at here is that we say we want direction but often times we just want some one to tell us exactly what to do so we don't have to think about how to achieve A, B or C. We also than can blame the other's plan if we don't succeed. We don't want to make decisions from our signs because that means we have to take ownership of those very decisions if things don't work out. We all fear failure so instead we tend to do nothing, staying in the sameness of our lives because it's safe, though we may not be happy.

There is no exact plan for life. There are signs and symbols that offer guidance, but you decide what they mean to you and how to act on them or not. You are responsible for your life, your happiness and how your being affects the world around you.  Do not fear failure, as failure is how you learn. Go out into the world and seek your signs and know that you're capable of making decisions that can bring health, happiness and love to a world that needs you.

Blessings,

Dreamer
